7 EASY STEPS TO REMEMBER:
1.
Assess the Risk
If possible. identify the material and volume spilled to Judge possible effects on people, the environment and property. Refer to the containers label or SDS (Safety Date Sheet).
2.
Select PPE
Use SDS and other literature to choose Personal Protective Equipment such as gloves and suits. If you can’t identify the liquid and its properties, use the highest level of protection./p>
3.
Contain the Spill
Block or divert the spill to avoid water source contamination and ease cleanup. Consider using absorbents as well as nonabsorbent barriers.
4.
Stop the Source
Stopping a spill at its source may mean closing a valve. plugging a leak or setting a container upright. You may also need to transfer liquid out of a damaged container or into an over-pack drum.
5.
Implement Cleanup
Chemically-compatible sorbents quickly capture spilled liquid. Sorbents won’t change a liquids properties however; so dispose of saturated sorbents as you would the liquid itself. Cleanup may involve placing spill remains OverPacks or Salvage Drums.
6.
Decontaminate
To protect the health and safety of responders and others. neutralize or remove and property dispose of accumulated hazardous materials. This may even include exposed earth.
7.
Complete Reports
Complete all medical and incident notifications and reports required by your organization, as well as by local, state and Federal requirements./p>
Handling and Disposal
Liquids absorbed by SpillTech® products are not rendered less hazardous, less toxic or less flammable by absorption; liquids remain in their original states. Therefore, caution in the handling, storage, disposal or cleaning of SpillTech® products after use should be in accordance with the original liquids absorbed. Consult the Material Safety Data Sheet of each liquid absorbed for proper handling. SpillTech® products must be transported and disposed of in compliance with local, state and federal regulations. SpillTech and Absorbent King does not recommend specific procedures due to variances in regulations, applications and liquids used.
Warranty
SpillTech and Absorbent King will replace any product found to be defective in material or workmanship. This warranty shall only apply where the buyer has issued written notice to SpillTech ans Absorbent King within thirty (30) days of purchase; it does not extend to product abuse, misuse, neglect or accident, nor to product repaired or altered by any other than SpillTech. This warranty is exclusive and in lieu of all other warranties, expressed or implied.
Limitation of Liability
In no event will SpillTech’s and Absorbent King’s liability for its Products exceed the purchase price paid for its Products. SpillTech and Absorbent King will not be liable under any circumstances for any special, indirect, consequential, or punitive damages, including, but not limited to loss of profits, loss of business opportunities, or loss of goodwill, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
